You have been on Premium coming up on two years (in 2012). How has it been?
It has been great! I've had opportunities to do things I used to dream about as a kid. Going on Road Fools, for example, was something I got to do this past year that was made possible by riding for Premium. I am stoked to be a part of Premium and excited to see what the future brings.
What sets Premium apart from the rest of the companies?
Premium is a company that makes really good and innovative parts and provides them to riders at good prices. Premium also makes sure that their riders are taken care of and are constantly helping them out in whatever way they can.
How is the Premium team?
It's awesome for sure. I grew up seeing Josh Harrington in videos and magazines, so to be on the same team as him is an honor. Chad, Sean, and Connor on the other hand are newer faces, but are definitely a few of the best upand- coming riders out there. Premium has a bright future in all of those dudes, and it's sweet to be a part of it.
You have dropped some ridiculous parts in the past. Do you like working on those?
Thanks! I really do enjoy working on those. It can be a stressful process at times when tricks or spots don't work out the way you hoped they would, but seeing everything come together in the end makes it all worth it. I also love to film and edit, so seeing everything from both sides of the lens is definitely something I enjoy.
Technical street riding seems a little better on the body, wouldn't you say?
Yeah (laughter); I love seeing burly street riding, but I'm not much of a burly street rider myself. I grew up riding curb pads and ramps, so usually when I ride street I like to find a small set-up to nibble on. It's also good since you can session a spot for hours instead of having to risk killing yourself over one trick.
What was your first memory of BMX?
Right after learning how to ride a bike, my dad took me to the park down the street from my house. There were little jumps in the woods and I thought they were the best things ever. From that point on I would just jump anything I could around the neighborhood; it all went from there.

You've been with Premium coming up on 10 years now..that's quite an accomplishment! Has it been a long road?
It has been amazing. Traveling the world with my bike is a dream come true. I'm stoked to have been supported in doing what I love for so long and don't plan on slowing down any time soon. My bike is a part of me.
How many handrails would you estimate you've hopped on in the past 10 years?
Have to get back to you on that. A lot. Rails are fun.
What's the best thing about BMX?
Freedom to do it your way. Creativity.
What was your first memory of BMX?
Locals at the local park doing fakie airs as I walked by... didn't understand it but I wanted to...
What part on your bike do you go through the most?
Grips
What was your favorite move 10 years ago?
360 tables
What's your current favorite move?
360 tables
You stand over 6 feet tall; isn't it hard for you to ride a BMX bike?
Feels right to me...I'm 6' 4".
You have been in BMX a long time. Is there more to experience?
Always more to see...always looking forward.

Did your racing background help you with ramps and street?
Yeah, it definitely helped me with my bike control; being so comfortable on my bike since I used to race makes riding ramps and street a lot easier for me.
How is the Premium team for 2012?
It's sick! I'm pretty good friends with everyone on the team so it's real cool.
What's it like having 10-year Premium rider Josh Harrington on the team list with you?
It's sweet for sure. He knows what's up with BMX and always has good advice. He's one of my favorite riders and everything he does is so dialed…I look up to him.
You've been traveling the world at just 16 years old. How has that been?
It's awesome! I'm just having as much fun as possible... getting the opportunity to travel makes riding my bike that much better. Seeing new things and meeting new people is always fun!
You have a cool ramp in your backyard. Are you parents pretty cool with your BMX passion?
Yeah, they've always been real supportive with whatever I did. As far as the ramp, they're real cool with it. My dad even paints it for me when I'm gone on a trip somewhere. They support me 100%.
What dreams do you have for BMX?
Just to have fun for as long as I can and be able to stay on my bike as long as possible. Riding in the X Games and traveling with a smile on my face would be my overall dream come true.
What's one move that you just can't seem to figure out?
Crank arm slides don't work the way I envisioned they would and I haven't gotten it yet. It's a tough one, but I'm sure I'll get it one day.
What does the future have in store for Chad Kerley?
Hopefully more traveling and filming...I've been working on my video part for The Hunt contest which has been going really well, and I'm still getting clips for the SD DVD that will be out sometime way in the future. I'm looking forward to more fun on my bike and hanging with my friends. Yeeuuhhh!!

How old are you and how long have you been riding?
21 years old, and been riding 10 years now.
Are you from Nor Cal or So Cal?
I grew up in Nor Cal, a small town in the bay area called Moraga, but as soon as I graduated I moved straight to San Diego, gods country haha, I couldn't be happier about living here.
You seem to be one of the few riders wearing a helmet riding Street, what made you decide on that choice?
Well about three years ago I cracked my skull and had internal bleeding in my brain. I was in the ICU for five days before I went home. When I got back on my bike I told myself I would never ride without a helmet again. I don't care if people hate on me or it isn't cool, I would rather live a long and happy life then end up a vegetable forever. There have been times I hit my head after the crash and every time I'm grateful I wear it. I would never force it on anyone, you are who you are.
What's a typical weekend for you?
A typical weekend for me is pretty simple actually. If I have work that weekend I normally wake up at 6am work all morning then ride the skate park at 3 until whenever, when I'm done and if I have work the next morning I normally chill at night with friends. If I don't work I normally wake up around 10-11am, chill for a bit eat food, shower, then ride all day with good friends and party at night. Then wake up and do it all over again.
You just got on the Premium team joining Dan Foley, Chad Kerley, Sean Ricany and Josh Harrington. How is it being teammates with those guys?
Knowing I'm on a team with some of the nicest most influencing riders in BMX is unreal. It makes me feel so good every time I go ride my bike knowing people thought I should be on the same team with those guys. WTF haha it's an honor to be apart of the family guys : )
You have one of the best nose wheelies in the game, can you let us in on the secret to getting them?
The world may never know haha. Lean forward and look straight down at the tire. I don't know... 2 weeks of flipping over the bars at the skatepark helped a lot too haha. I suck at explaining things sorry haha. Hope you learn them!

Sean you're the little one on the Premium team, do the guys pick on you?
Not really, Chad and I mess with each other sometimes but other than that everything is pretty cool.
Do you think you have an advantage being small and riding a BMX compared to Josh Harrington?
Josh is a BEAST. But I'm sure it's a bit easier on me standing at 5'4.
You seam to muscle every move on Street, where is your strength coming from?
GTL baby, haha.
You have been riding brakeless for a while now, do you recommend it?
I have been brakeless for almost 4 years and I love it, I think it helps gain bike control. Also your bike feels great no rattling and you don't have to worry about your brakes working.
Remember when you rode a Pink Premium?
Yeah that was my first premium that Tony D sent me.
What do you like to do when you're not riding?
Surf, skate, and hangout with friends.
You have a pretty cool set up in your back yard, how do your parents allow that?
Yeah my backyard is my favorite place to ride, thanks to premium and Bill for helping out with expenses. Parents were a bit worried at first about kids getting hurt now they have got use to it and also excepted the fact they have no backyard left.
How important is it to have supportive parents riding BMX?
Pretty important, without supportive parents it's hard to be successful in BMX. My parents are awesome without them I wouldn't be where I'm at today.
You had 2 broken wrists last year, are injuries something always on your mind?
Yeah it's definitely always in the back of your mind, it's a part of BMX though.
You might be one of the youngest Pro's at a recently turned 16 years of age and now you're getting paid to ride a BMX, how stoked are you on that?
Super stoked. It's been my dream to get paid to do what I love.
What do you plan to do with the money?
Save up for a car.
What's the future plans for Sean Ricany?
Finish high school travel and maybe move somewhere with nice weather all year round.
